CDA participated in the second edition of the event “A Day in the Park”, held in the “Alunelul” Park in Chisinau, under the auspices of UNHCR Moldova.
The CDA tent was actively visited by the participants – displaced persons or refugees, as well as inhabitants of the capital, who answered the quiz and questionnaire questions prepared by the Law Center of Advocates.
CDA team members were involved in World Refugee Day activities in Causeni, Stefan Voda, Ungheni and Cahul.
On June 22, CDA in cooperation with the Anenii Noi City Hall, with the support of UNHCR Moldova, organized a mini-football tournament, under the theme “Football unites us”, in which 9 teams participated. Most of them represented organizations and institutions involved in supporting refugees, displaced persons from Ukraine in various ways, providing them with humanitarian and legal assistance.
The aim of the event was to sensitize the general public to the situation of refugees and foreigners in difficulty, express solidarity with them, convey messages of support, reaffirming the commitment to help them, including in the process of integration into local communities.
The matches were played between the teams of the Law Center of Advocates (CDA), UN Refugee Agency for Refugees in Moldova (UNHCR), INTERSOS, Refugee Charity Center (RCC), People’s Advocate Office (PAO), Border Police, Congress of Local Authorities (CALM), FC Anina and FC Ruseni from Anenii Noi district.
In the context of World Refugee Day, CDA posted on its Facebook page a series of materials debunking myths and falsehoods about refugees.
World Refugee Day 2024 focused on solidarity with and solutions for refugees. The slogan of the current edition was “Solidarity with refugees for a world where refugees are welcome”.
The number of people forced to flee their homes is growing every year and now stands at a record 120 million. Moldova hosts more than 120 000 refugees.
