More than 700 refugees were legally counseled in the first month of implementation of the project signed between the Law Center of Advocates (LCA) and the NGO Farmacéuticos Mundi.
771 de refugiați au primit sprijin din partea consilierilor juridici angajați de CDA, în cadrul proiectului 771 refugees received support from legal advisers employed by the LCA in the project “Legal counselling and assistance for migrants from Ukraine”, financially supported by the NGO for Development Cooperation, Humanitarian Action and Emergency Farmacéuticos Mundi, through its donors.
A memorandum in this regard was previously signed between the Law Center of Advocates and the NGO Farmacéuticos Mundi, which provides for the implementation of the mentioned project, starting from April 1, for a period of four months. The purpose of the project is to provide counseling and legal assistance to refugees in Ukraine, who are in refugee centers or are housed in families on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
With the support of Farmaceuticos Mundi, LCA hired 6 legal advisers on the basis of service contracts, to provide legal assistance and counseling in 4 refugee accommodation centers in Chisinau and Cojusna and Slobozia Dusca.
The most frequently addressed issues are related to the asylum procedure; documents required to travel to EU countries and return to Ukraine; how to complete the expired documents, to obtain the declaration to accompany the children. Refugees also needed advice on how to obtain financial assistance and material support from various organizations. Details of access to health care, enrollment of children in school or kindergarten were also frequently requested; refugee rights, employment opportunities, settlement in other states.
The CDA’s legal advisers also directed 5 people with disabilities to use GO Keystone services, and another 5 Ukrainian citizens were assisted in applying for asylum at the Office for Migration and Asylum. LCA hired a lawyer from Ukraine in the organization.
