CDA trainers Oleg Palii, Tatiana Chebac and Ion Bambuleac gave lectures in Chisinau, Balti and Cahul for lawyers and paralegals providing legal assistance, including primary legal assistance, to refugees, stateless persons and other categories of foreigners. The trainings dealt with topics related to the rights of refugees, asylum issues, forms of protection and asylum procedures, forms of legal residence, the situation of refugees in Ukraine, practical aspects of assisting foreigners in our country.
The trainings take place in the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Strengthening the criminal justice system based on respect for human rights in the Republic of Moldova”, at the request of the National Legal Aid Council (NLAC).
On 28 September, CDA Executive Director Oleg Palii participated as a trainer in the training of staff members of the People’s Advocate Office (PAO) and members of the Advisory Council for the Prevention of Violations of Human Rights in Ukraine on the right to asylum and refugee rights.
The training was organized by PAO, within the framework of the Project “Strengthening the capacities of the People’s Advocate Office in the protection and promotion of the rights of refugees and other persons”, funded by the UN Refugee Agency in Moldova.
CDA`s Advocate, Olga Ojog, presented a paper at the workshop organized on October 11 by the Association Against Violence “Casa Maria” on the topic of prevention of gender-based violence.
The participants of the workshop – 20 social workers, psychologists, representatives of the Probation Inspectorate, specialists from municipalities, universities/colleges, mobile teams, social directorates – learned more about the mitigation of psychological crises and the phenomenon of violence against girls and women.
CDA lawyer Olga Ojog spoke to the audience about the legal aspects of responding to the needs of refugees.
The workshop took place in the framework of the project “Moldovans and Ukrainians – united for the prevention of gender-based violence”, implemented with the financial support of INTERSOS Moldova through the UN Refugee Agency.
