“Accession to the EU is the natural way of development of the Republic of Moldova… If we care about the future of this country, the future of our children and our future, we must go to the referendum” – is the statement of the Executive Director of the Law Center of Advocates, Oleg Palii, to the State Information Agency “Moldpres”.
Asked to give his opinion on the importance of participating in the constitutional referendum on October 20, Oleg Palii said that “our country needs reliable, predictable, well-intentioned partners with whom we can live in peace, build our future, preserve the beautiful traditions of all ethnic groups living in Moldova”. And the EU is such a partner.
“The EU is already helping us to develop our road network, to repair and equip schools, kindergartens, hospitals, is coming up with solutions to strengthen energy independence by developing green energy. The European Union is investing in job creation in our country, which will help us to bring our loved ones back home”.
“A well-intentioned partner doesn’t come with tanks, bomb in your house and kill your loved ones, doesn’t apply embargoes to block your foreign trade”.
The CDA Executive Director also revealed that “The European Union means human and social rights standards, it means ensuring a decent life for pensioners, quality education and access to the European system of studies, security and confidence in the future.
European Union means respecting my language, because the European Union has 27 official languages, one of them being Romanian. The European Union means that the rights of my neighbours of other ethnicities will be respected, because the EU applies the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of race or ethnic origin.
Only in elections and referendums does everyone’s opinion count and is taken into account. If we don’t go to the polls, if we don’t go to the referendum, there is no point in expressing our opinion in conversations with friends, on social networks or in the market,” said Oleg Palii.
