CDA representatives participated in the activities of the Human Rights Caravan Campaign, a nationwide initiative aimed at increasing human rights awareness and respect for human rights in local communities, organized by the People’s Advocate Office, in partnership with UNHCR Moldova and the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau.
On July 2, CDA legal counsellors Alla Chebac and Dumitru Chebac, as well as CDA communications officer Natalia Visanu were in dialog with the visitors of the Human Rights Town in Cahul. The CDA representatives had several activities to promote the rights of refugees, displaced persons, asylum seekers, foreigners in difficulty.
Similar activities took place in Ungheni, on July 14, where the CDA team – CDA legal counsellor in Ungheni, Silvia Grosu, CDA communication officer, Natalia Vișanu, – was present with information materials, contests, spots on the theme of refugees, asylum seekers, beneficiaries of humanitarian protection, temporary protection, stateless persons and undocumented persons.
On July 21, the residents of Drochia, as well as displaced persons settled in the given locality had the opportunity to inform themselves on these topics by taking part in the contest organized by CDA. All participants received gifts: bags, backpacks, thermos flasks, pens and other materials with the organization’s logo.
At the Human Rights Caravan in Drochia some visitors were given legal advice and – pre-registered for temporary protection or discussed current problems with members of the CDA team, working in the northern districts of the country – legal counsellors Tatiana Vicol, Patricia Plesca, Rostislav Covdii, Alexandru Covdii.
Human Rights Caravan provided opportunities for discussions with colleagues from partner organizations, representatives of local public authorities.
CDA legal counsellors, Dumitru Chebac, Silvia Grosu and Tatiana Vicol, took part in the meetings of the People’s Advocate, the People’s Advocate for Children’s Rights with representatives of the Cahul, Ungheni and Drochia district public authorities.
In their speeches, the lawyers of the association mentioned the good cooperation established between the CDA and the local public authorities and came up with some suggestions regarding the actions that could contribute to increasing the protection of refugees and their integration in the host communities.
