More than 33,400 calls, including 25,800 received from Ukrainian citizens, were received on the Green Line of the Bureau for Migration and Asylum (BMA) during the state of emergency. Data were announced during the press visit to the BMA Call Center, organized by Centrul de Drept al Avocaților (CDA) in cooperation with the Bureau for Migration and Asylum.
The Call Center Green Line was launched on February 25, 2022 and operates non-stop. At the beginning of the refugee crisis, more than 600-700 foreigners were calling daily on the Green Line. That is why it was so important the assistance provided by CDA – hiring of five operators, with the financial support of the Soros Foundation Moldova. The Green Line has four more BMA employed advisors and four more operators hired by the International Organization for Migration.
Currently, the number of calls to the Call Center has dropped to about 300 each day. The assistance provided by the BMA Call Center covers a wide range of issues related to the entry and stay of a foreigners in the Republic of Moldova. More frequently, information is required on the conditions of transit and exit to EU countries, application for refugee status, employment opportunities, mechanisms for granting the right of residence, how to obtain identity documents.
