Chisinau, Comrat, Cahul, Soroca, Edinet, Anenii Noi, Causeni, Ungheni – in these and other localities of the country CDA lawyers organized activities on the occasion of World Refugee Day or participated in events organized by the association’s partners.
A first activity on the occasion of World Refugee Day took place in Cahul. In the framework of the CDA-Oxfam Project, CDA legal advisor Alla Chebac organized a trip for displaced children from Ukraine to the “Cahulpan” bread factory.
25 children from two placement centres in Cahul found out about the history of the enterprise, how bread and other bakery products – biscuits, cakes, pretzels and other sweets are produced. The children enjoyed tasting these freshly baked goods and appreciated their quality.
On 17 June, the CDA lawyers participated in an event organized by the UN Refugee Agency in Moldova in the “Alunelul” Park in Chișinău.
The tent of the CDA team was most visited. The participants of the event were interested in the displayed informative materials and in discussions with the CDA lawyers.
Some visitors tested their knowledge of refugee rights and asylum law by taking part in a quiz prepared by the CDA. For the correct answers they received gifts – bags, caps, lanterns with logos of CDA and UNDP.
On 20 June, CDA awarded prizes to the winners of the quiz competition “What do I know about refugees and asylum?”, held from 15 May to 15 June 2023, as part of the CDA – Oxfam project.
An information and social cohesion event, Bridges of Friendship: Bridging Cultures, took place in Anenii Noi and brought together refugees and residents of the city. The activity was carried out in collaboration with Anenii Noi City Hall, within the framework of the CDA-Oxfam Project.
Legal advisors Vera Garciu and Serghei Rosca organized an entertainment event for children at the Accommodation Centre in Congaz village, UTAG. The children were engaged in several games and had great fun.
“Football unites us” was the motto of the social cohesion event, which was attended by 17 children, 9 of them – displaced from Ukraine. The friendly match was moderated by the football coach, Alexandru Samciuc, and the CDA legal advisor, Tatiana Vicol made sure the event was unforgettable.
The World Refugee Day activities continued in Causeni. More than 30 displaced people from Ukraine and the host community tried their strengths in practicing yoga. The event held by CDA was also attended by many children for whom sports activities were organized.
The outdoor Yoga Retreat session took place in the stadium of the sports town of Causeni and was moderated by Ukrainian yogi and CDA beneficiary Viktoria Kureavaya.
On 21 June, also in Causeni, UNHCR Moldova inaugurated a Community Centre, as well as a series of other actions, with the participation of partner organizations of the UNHCR.
The CDA tent was again the place of public interests, and the CDA legal advisors, Diana Norosian, Vasile Norosian, Corina Repeșciuc, Nicoleta Repeșciuc, Anton Zagoreț – in the spotlight.
Visitors of all ages, locals and displaced persons from Ukraine found here information, small gifts, a lot of attention and openness.
Children and adults competed in making origami birds, an activity provided by UNDP’s CDA partners, and UNDP provided information and promotional materials on refugee rights.
CDA legal advisors Mariana Gîrbu and Diana Strechii were present at the event organized by UNHCR in Balti with information materials, but also with a quiz about the Republic of Moldova, prepared for refugees settled in the northern part of the country. Correct answers were rewarded with a jar of honey from local producers.
