CDA was actively involved in the International Campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”, 2024 edition, with the theme “Every 10 Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence against Women”.
We reaffirmed on this occasion our firm commitment to promote gender equality, the culture of respect for human dignity, to prevent and combat gender-based violence.
Together with representatives of local and national authorities, international organizations, diplomatic missions and civil society, we took part, on November 25, in a solidarity march, through which, in Chisinau, the Campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” in the Republic of Moldova was launched.
Between November 25 and December 10, CDA legal advisors organized 16 information sessions and debates in several localities in the Republic of Moldova, with the participation of refugees, but also representatives of the host community, including pupils and students.
More than three hundred participants were informed about the forms of gender-based violence, legal protection measures and institutions that can provide support. An important aspect of the discussions was the debunking of myths related to domestic and gender-based violence. At the events, there was also talk about the existing possibilities for the rehabilitation of victims, including access to healthcare, education and jobs.
Most of the actions were carried out in collaboration with CDA partners, such as representatives of the Police Inspectorates of Cahul, Soroca, Straseni, the Cahul Probation Office, STAS of Soroca, of the NGO “Christian Philanthropy” of Orhei, “Laolaltă” of Căușeni. Only with joint efforts will we be able to break the vicious circle of violence, prevent and firmly combat this phenomenon.
