On 3 October, an information session was organized by CDA together with the local public authorities of Basarabeasca, with more than 20 refugees from Ukraine attending the event.
At the information session, the CDA’s legal advisor, Victor Țînar, gave the audience more details about the rights of refugees in general, procedures of concluding of documents, issues related to the residence regime in our country, possibilities of obtaining humanitarian aid. Refugees were particularly interested in the possibility of receiving assistance during the wintertime (wood, food and hygiene products).
Also on 3 October, project assistant Victoria Țepordei, legal advisors Vera Garciu and Denis Potereanu from Comrat and Anenii Noi participated in a workshop organized by Oxfam for partner organizations in Moldova, including the Law Centre of Advocates. The workshop reviewed and evaluated the activities carried out during six months of Oxfam projects and identified ways to make them more efficient.
At the event, the project assistant, Victoria Țepordei, referred to the actions undertaken by CDA, talked about the positive experiences gained by the organization in the implementation of the Oxfam project and the activities planned for the next period of its implementation.
A new information session, within the framework of the CDA – Oxfam project, on refugee rights took place on 10 October at the refugee centre ,,La Dumbrava”, Soroca.
CDA team members – Victoria Tepordei, Aurelia Bagrin, Tatiana Vicol-Feliscan discussed with the participants their current problems and answered their questions about their legal status and rights.
Refugees needed more clarifications about their possible transfer to another centre, in case of closure of the one where they are currently settled, the procedures for crossing the border of the RM-UA in legal conditions, issues related to refugee status. There was also discussion about the possibility of obtaining seasonal clothing.
While the mothers were talking to the CDA staff, refugee children and their Moldovan peers played together with balls brought with the support of the Oxfam project. The activity took place with the aim of integrating refugees from Ukraine into the local community and increasing social cohesion.
A CDA-Oxfam project meeting took place on 12 October in Causeni.
The event took place at the Raion Public Library “Ion Ungureanu” Causeni, with which CDA has signed a cooperation agreement, and gathered refugee women from Ukraine as well as from Causeni.
CDA legal advisors Diana Covalenco-Norosian, Roman Leahu, as well as CDA lawyer, protection expert Aurelia Bagrin, discussed with the participants the problems of people fleeing from war, as well as ensuring their rights and obligations on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
Among the topics discussed were documentation and access to social services – kindergartens, schools, medical institutions, social protection measures, possibilities of employment, integration with equal rights in the local community.
