UNHCR’s implementing partner “Law Centre of Advocates” NGO is looking for a qualified person for the position of Legal Counselor (Statelessness) for an initial period of three months with the possibility of extension. This is a part time (50%) position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
– provide legal counseling to stateless persons and persons at risk of being stateless in Moldova;
– establish and maintain a database of identified stateless persons;
– assess the situation of stateless persons in Moldova by conducting participatory assessment exercises;
– plan and carry out sensitization and public information campaigns in different parts of the country;
– perform other duties as assigned.
Criteria required for the position:
– university degree, preferably in international law or human rights law;
– at least one year of relevant legal experience;
– fluency in Romanian, Russian and English. Working knowledge of one or more locally spoken languages, including Gagauz, Romani, or Ukrainian, is considered an asset;
– ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
– demonstrated ability to work with government counterparts, civil society organizations, and UN-affiliated organizations;
– willingness and experience in dealing with socially vulnerable or disadvantaged persons, people with special needs;
– ability to maintain high level of accuracy in carrying out the assigned tasks
– excellent communication skills
– computer skills
