“United for Ukraine. Integration of refugees in local communities” is the theme of the essay contest launched by the Law Centre of Advocates for students of grades VII-IX from Causeni, Stefan-Voda, Basarabeasca, Cahul, Ungheni, Soroca, Comrat, Orhei, Anenii Noi, Balti.
The contest is launched by CDA, in the framework of the CDA-Oxfam project ,,Decentralized support for Ukrainian refugees”, and aims to raise awareness among children and young people in the districts where the project is implemented about the problems faced by refugees from Ukraine, to raise awareness of the importance of respecting their rights, active involvement in social cohesion activities that would help them integrate into local communities.
The contest is also launched to promote the idea of human solidarity with refugees, dialogue and positive engagement with others, respect for differences, encouraging tolerant behavior and attitudes.
Participants in the competition are asked to describe in short texts/essays how they have been welcomed in their communities and helped refugees from Ukraine, to share their opinion on the importance of solidarity with them and their integration into local communities.
The essay contest “United for Ukraine. Integrating Refugees into Local Communities” is launched on 13 November, National Youth Day, and will culminate in a prize-giving ceremony on 20 December 2022, International Day of Human Solidarity.
La concurs pot participa elevii și elevele claselor a VII-IX de la gimnaziile și liceele din raioanele Căușeni, Stefan-Voda, Basarabeasca, Cahul, Ungheni, Soroca, Comrat, Orhei, Anenii Noi, municipiul Bălți, inclusiv refugiați din Ucraina.
Texts may be written in Romanian, Russian, Ukrainian or English, may be free-form, written in Time New Roman font size 12, 1.5 units spacing and will not exceed one A4 page.
The essays should be sent to the following e-mail address: law-center@cda.md, with the subject “United for Ukraine” and the author’s name and surname, town, class, educational institution, telephone number and e-mail address.
The deadline for submission of applications is 10 December 2022 at midnight.
The winners of the competition will be the authors of the best entries (three from each district where the competition will be held). They will be awarded with valuable gifts. The organizers will also set special prizes for the participants.
