The Law Center of Advocates (CDA), which has expertise and experience in the field of asylum, has been fully involved in monitoring the observance of the rights of foreigners and providing them with legal and informational assistance, starting from February 24. CDA has been supported by the association’s partners – UNHCR-Moldova, the Foundation Soros Moldova, Farmacéuticos Mundi (FARMAMUNDI), Oxfam.
CDA employees work at border crossing points, at accommodation centers, offering legal advice and useful information to refugees, asylum seekers, unaccompanied children, foreigners in general.
Thus, between February 24 and August 24, 2022, CDA team members carried out over 700 monitoring visits at border crossing points, where they provided over 20,000 counselling to foreigners. More intensively, the CDA lawyers monitored the border crossing points in the southern districts of the country, such as Palanca, Giurgiulești-Reni, Cahul and Giurgiulești-Galați, where the most legal advice was given to refugees.
The CDA team carries out an extensive activity at the refugee accommodation centers, but also in the localities where more Ukrainians are accommodated. Within six months of the start of the war in Ukraine, CDA lawyers provided over 60,000 legal advice.
The most discussed topics concern financial assistance, resettlement in EU states, border crossing procedures, the right of refugees and the conditions of stay in our country, the right to asylum, documentation, access to medical assistance, enrolling children in schools and kindergartens, employment.
CDA constantly collaborates with the Bureau of Migration and Asylum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (BMA), the Border Police, other state structures in the management of the refugee crisis.
