The meeting was attended by the head of the General Inspectorate of Border Police (GIBP), Rosian Vasiloi, the head of the General Directorate of Border Control, Diana Salcuțan, the executive director of the Law Center of Advocates (LCA), Oleg Palii, LCA program director, Svetlana Jioara, and LCA protection and monitoring officer, Tatiana Chebac.
Topics on interinstitutional cooperation, protection of asylum seekers at the border, training methods for border guards were addressed.
The head of the Border Police praised in positive terms the GIBP’s collaboration with the LCA, which began in 2009, but also during the period of increased refugee flow, starting with February 24, 2022. „From the first day you were with us, side by side, with the same approaches. I would like also to thank you for the capacity building exercises of our colleagues, carried out in all regional directions. Only through common actions and activities will we succeed “, said Rosian Vasiloi.
As a sign of gratitude and high appreciation for the contribution made in support of the Border Police in managing the refugee crisis, the head of the GIBP, Rosian Vasiloi, decorated Tatiana Chebac with the medal “For cooperation”.
The executive director of LCA, Oleg Palii, also appreciated the existing cooperation between LCA and GIBP, expressing the opening of the Law Center of Advocates for the development of collaboration on various dimensions.
“We have all the admiration and respect for the border guards on the front line, for the colossal work they did. The key to success was demonstrated at the border crossing points, where you showed maximum perseverance, consolidation and solidarity worthy of all admiration. We are proud to be a team with you”, said Oleg Palii.
The LCA, GIBP, UNCHR and Bureau of Migration and Asylum (BMA) have established a cooperative relationship since 2009, when a Memorandum of Understanding was signed.
