Training-information activity of CDA in the first quarter of 2023

In the first quarter of 2023, CDA conducted 14 training activities and 57 information sessions with 1510 participants. 

The trainings of the Law Centre of Advocates (CDA) were attended by human rights professionals, mainly employees of the GIM, GIP, Border Police, social workers, and representatives of guardianship authorities, of civil society, judges, prosecutors, police officers and lawyers.

The trainings focused on “Ensuring the rights of children who have become refugees on the territory of the Republic of Moldova as a result of the armed conflict in Ukraine: practical aspects”, “Principles of non-discrimination and tolerance in the context of the Ukrainian refugee crisis: Their application in professional work”, “Granting legal assistance to refugees, stateless persons and other categories of foreigners”.

The training activities were carried out with the support of UNHCR Moldova; of the International Organization of the Francophonie in the framework of the Project “Etat de droit, droits de l’Homme, Justice”; with the financial support of Sweden, in the framework of the Project “Strengthening access to justice through legal empowerment of refugees in Moldovan”, implemented by UNDP Moldova; with the support of Oxfam in the framework of the Project “Decentralized support for Ukrainian refugees”.

The information sessions were attended by displaced persons from Ukraine and covered topics related to the rights and obligations of refugees, various aspects of temporary protection, access to health care for refugees, their integration into local communities; respect for the rights of children displaced from Ukraine.

The right to temporary protection, the conditions for granting temporary protection, the effects of the provisions of the legal status of temporary protection were discussed with the participants of the information sessions, organized in Chisinau, Balti, Soroca, Cahul, Telenesti, Anenii Noi, Drochia, Ungheni, Causeni, Stefan Voda.

Informing asylum seekers, refugees, undocumented migrants, applicants for stateless status, recognized stateless persons, foreigners and training human rights professionals is an important direction in the work of CDA – the only legal NGO in the Republic of Moldova with expertise and experience in the field of asylum.
